Minshuku Sawayaka-so is a guesthouse (minshuku) with 11 rooms on the Uehara side of Iriomote. You can choose room only, with breakfast, with dinner, or with dinner and breakfast. Official rates for an adult, with 2 or more guests, are ¥4,500 room only and ¥7,200 with dinner and breakfast in a room with shared bath, ¥6,000 and ¥8,700 in a standard room, and ¥8,000 and ¥10,700 in a deluxe room. The guesthouse runs canoe, snorkeling, and fishing tours and a rental car service. Every room has a refrigerator, TV, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi.

“Clean, basic bedroom with a view to pineapple fields, with TV, mini fridge, kettle, in-room bathroom, Wi-fi and breakfast included. A small kitchen with microwave and washing machine are available for guests use. We had dinner twice here because most restaurants are far away. You want to rent a car to move around the island. Staff is friendly and helpful.”
